Neil Kressel, Ph.D.

Neil Kressel holds a Ph.D. in Psychology and Social Relations from Harvard University, where he studied under Albert Ellis. He’s taught at Harvard University, New York University, and he’s currently a Professor of Psychology at William Paterson University where he chaired the Department of Psychology and directed the Honors Program in the Social Sciences. Kressel is the author or editor of six books, he has appeared on NPR, MSNBC, ABC-TV, Fox News, the History Channel, the Joan Rivers Show, Voice of America, and many other broadcasts. His work has been widely cited in print and online media, including Forbes.com, the Economist, Reader’s Digest, the Washington Post, the New York Post, Chronicle of Higher Education, and the Jerusalem Post, Slate. In Autumn 2024, Cambridge University published Kressel’s The Psychology of Religion: A Social Force.
