Welcome to the Open Therapy Institute (OTI)
OTI is committed to patient-centered care that respects all values and worldviews.
Our mission is to address socio-political bias in mental health care
We’re taking three steps to achieve this mission…
-
1. Building New Scholarship
OTI’s journal, Frontiers in Mental Health, features top scholars addressing neglected issues in mental health, including self-censorship, cancel culture, race, gender, sexuality, faith, antisemitism, and more.
-
2. Advancing New Ideas
OTI’s journal articles are adapted into CE workshops for therapists, op-eds for the public, and peer-reviewed research to deepen the field.
-
3. Building a Professional Community
OTI scholars collaborate on emerging questions, while therapists in our membership program engage in peer-consultation groups and professional events to build their skills and support each other.
Our long-term vision is a thriving movement of scholars and clinicians advancing research, training, and services, enhancing the public discourse, and improving care for millions of poorly served patients.
Patient Profiles
Profiles of potential patients were developed by experienced clinicians to highlight some of the populations that OTI aims to serve. Download PDF version.
Overlooked Issues in Mental Health Care
Therapists are rarely trained on these topics, and there are no clinics that specialize in most of them. Download PDF version.
